I CAN HAS JOB
Jan. 18th, 2010 08:30 pmHi! Just wanted to let the six of you or so who read this that I got a job last week.
Oh, yeah, I don't think I ever made a post about losing my previous job. The week before Thanksgiving, the owner of the company called everyone into the conference room and told us he was closing the place down--as of that day. Came as a bit of a shock in that we'd all been busier than free electrons in a superconductor for the past few weeks, and, well, there's more I could say about said owner, but I just won't (aside from, may the fates give him everything he deserves--plus interest).
Anyway, after about six weeks, I managed to get a new job because a friend was moving and they needed a replacement and he really talked me up, so thanks again, Dana.
I'm still in the probation period of the job, but once I get past the "Okay, the machine is doing THIS. What the hell do I do now?" phase, I don't think I'll have many problems. There's a lot to learn yet, but that usually goes with any new job. It isn't terribly exciting, but after the last year, I can do without exciting. And in this economy, exciting is a luxury.
