(no subject)
Feb. 14th, 2008 06:04 pmHi! My first LJ entry. Don't expect to many from me; I'm too busy doing other things to spend much time online., But for the last few day, something has been simmering in cauldron of my mind and today (being a rather slow day at work), it came to a full boil. This is in part a Valentine's day present to my wife and concerns one of her latest obsessions.
Also, I should give some credit to Naamah. It was inspired by something she said while at our house the other night. This should be a warning to watch what you say around recovering filksingers (you enabler, you!).
Anyways:
Mike's Favorite Things
(to the tune of "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music)
Tracking down folktales, both classic and urban
Are Hellboy, Abe Sapien, and 'Lizabeth Sherman
Dispatching powers of impending doom
Here come the agents of Professor Broom!
Monsters and heroes from old Viking sagas,
Rasputin, Nazis and old Baba Yaga,
Zombies and werewolves and vampires with fangs,
These are few of Mike's favorite things!
[chorus]
When the bat flies, and the wolf howls,
Ghouls crawl out of the ground,
These are a few of the horrific things
that in Mignola's books can be found!
Spectres and mummies, mad scientists, twisted
And Lobster Johnson (who never existed)
Tumbled-down castles that fill one with dread,
Demons and spirits and bodiless heads,
Ghost haunted graveyards and monkeys with weapons,
Old crumbling mansions, and villains in zeppelins,
Things better off left in burial mounds,
These are some things in Mike's works can be found!
[chorus]
When old gods rise, from their long sleep,
Dooming all mankind...
These are a few of the really cool things
In Mignola's works....you'll find!
Yeah, Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
