Arthur C. Clarke
Mar. 19th, 2008 09:34 pmUpon hearing of the death of Arthur C. Clarke yesterday, I thought that a nice way to pay respects would be to go out and look at the stars. Alas, it had been raining all day (Ah! Even the skies were weeping!), and it was still cloudy.
Not a star to be seen.
And then I remembered with a chill "The Nine Billion Names of God".
It's been clear and sunny today, so tonight, I will go out and check--just to make sure.
(Yeah, yeah! I know the Sun is a star, and it certainly hadn't gone out. I was just trying to be vaguely funny--or poetic--or something. Don't nitpick).
